The challenge of managing messaging costs
Carlson Rezidor needed to save on email and calendaring costs for over 200 of their Radisson hotels, while still delivering the Outlook experience their over 12,000 users had come to expect. They also wanted to have a server for every hotel and still be able to centrally administer all servers from their headquarters location. In particular, they needed Outlook support and a web client with delegated rights, calendaring and a rules wizard.
The Scalix value proposition
Scalix offered a solid, Linux-based alternative to Microsoft Exchange for a one-time deployment cost, rather than a continuous stream of licenses and fees. Scalix has successfully migrated over 150 servers in the Rezidor environment from Exchange to Scalix across the globe.
The Results
Switching to Scalix enabled Carlson Rezidor to save over half a million dollars to date, since the Linux-based servers and Scalix per user fees were much less than Windows and Exchange licenses and Client Access Licenses (CALs). Best of all, the Scalix deployment was totally transparent to their users, who continued to enjoy reliable email and calendaring via their Outlook clients.
